
For the past 30 or so years (don’t remember exactly how long, and yes, I am old!) I have created and sent handmade new year’s cards in lieu of “holiday” cards. At first, the cards were photographic postcards, printed in my darkroom, with a new year’s message scribbled on the back. In the 80′s I got fancy and began imprinting the New Year’s message into the photograph itself. After that, I began looking for images where the image WAS the message. Lots of other creative experiments along the way. Some successful; others less so. A few recent digital cards (even though I felt those were cheating).
Will try to dig out some examples to share, though many of the cards are long gone.
This year’s card is photographic again. It was sent to 167 people on my always-changing New Year’s list. Now that I have a blog, YOU get to see it too.
