Color, or Black & White?

There was a time, not too long ago, when everything I shot was in black and white.  I “saw” the pictures in black and white.  Black and white was art.  Color was… well…  I didn’t shoot color.  Seriously.  I have tens of thousands of B&W negatives going back 35+ years.  I shot only a handful of rolls of color film during that time.

Well….  Digital has made it easy to shoot in color, and to get the color right.   The photography world, and especially the “ART” photography world, has been steadily migrating in the direction of color for years now.  A curator recently described B&W photography as “old fashioned” to a [still B&W] photographer friend of mine.  Yikes!  But no denying the underlying reality.

I still make B&W pictures,  but now, they always start out in color.   And I “see” in color now.  For better or for worse.   So here’s one….  both color and B&W versions.  Which do you like better?  Why?
